KHDA Teacher Guidelines, Qualification (2021)

The KHDA teacher guidelines, qualification, regulations and rules for educators mandated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority and the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) direct the teachers aspiring to secure a teaching job in Dubai and UAE through all the necessary educational requirements, essential teacher licensing programs, etc.

Requirements & Qualification to Become a KHDA Teacher

Bachelor’s Degree

It is mandatory for the teachers to have a minimum educational qualification of a bachelor’s degree or higher or at least four-year equivalent degree in their respective field of teaching.

It is essential for the candidates holding degree certificates, from universities outside of the UAE, to get them attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and their respective country's embassy.

Pass The Teachers’ Licensing System (TLS) Examination

The KHDA educational authority along with the National Qualifications Authority (NQA), Ministry of Education (MoE), Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education Training (ACTVET) made it compulsory for educators to secure the UAE teaching certificate by passing a series of two tests in the Teachers Licensing System exam.

It is mandatory for all principals, vice-principals, and teachers aspiring to teach at any public and private schools to hold a valid UAE teacher’s license to work legally in the country.

Knowledge on Smart Classroom Teaching

Private and Public school authorities generally ask teachers to have minimum basic knowledge on latest academic calendar, education technology and smart classroom teaching tools because innovative teaching techniques ensure that the education reaches students of different level of understanding properly.

KHDA Teacher Guidelines

  • Teachers must present a criminal clearance record
  • Teachers are required to have a medical fitness report from the UAE
  • Teachers must submit all the original educational documents and certificates
  • Teachers applying for a position at UAE government schools must register in the Ministry of Education’s job portal
  • Private schools administrators need to submit the documents of the teachers, who applied for a teaching position at their school, to the MoE or KHDA in Dubai
